Mia: Welcome back to the briefing. I'm Mia.

Milo: And I'm Milo. Today we've got a full spread — cloud agents, agents showing up in workplaces with real permissions, voice and video tools, a pile of Mac utilities, and the builder workflow stack. But we're not going to run a catalog. We picked a handful of things with the clearest user problems and the most concrete details, and we'll take them one at a time.

Mia: Right, and a quick caveat before we start: everything we know about these products comes from the makers' own descriptions. So treat everything as claims, not verified results. Let's start with coding agents, because that's where the most interesting platform news landed.

Milo: OpenAI launched an Agents API, and the pitch is pretty simple: it's a hosted Codex harness. You make one API call and you get a cloud agent. The included pieces matter more than the packaging — it ships with context compression, parallel sub-agents, and multiple sandbox options.

Mia: Why is that a big deal? Because historically, if you wanted a coding agent running in the cloud, you had to build the plumbing yourself. How does the agent keep enough context? How do you run five things in parallel? Where does it execute safely? OpenAI is saying: that's our problem now, you just call the API.

Milo: And it fits a pattern we keep seeing — agents moving from something you babysit locally to a managed platform you consume. The unknown here is real though: nobody knows the pricing yet, and nobody knows how reliable this is at scale. A demo of one agent is easy. A hundred parallel sub-agents hitting your repo? That's an open question.

Mia: The counterweight to that platform-heavy story is Kilo, which went the other direction — they shipped mobile apps for iOS and Android. The idea is you can start Cloud Agents from your phone, control CLI or VS Code sessions, and review and merge pull requests while you're away from your desk.

Milo: So OpenAI is building the engine room, and Kilo is building the cockpit you can carry in your pocket. And notably, Kilo is open source and supports 500-plus models. So you're not locked into one provider — you bring the model you want.

Mia: There's also a cultural piece in this same discussion. Sahil Lavingia took his book, The Minimalist Entrepreneur, and turned it into ten open-source Claude Code skills under the MIT license. Things like slash-validate-idea, slash-mvp, slash-pricing.

Milo: Which is a fun inversion. Instead of an agent reading a book and maybe absorbing its ideas, the playbook itself becomes executable — the agent gets the methodology as a skill it can run. And because it's MIT licensed, anyone can fork it, adapt it, or build on it.

Mia: So if you put these three together, the story is: agents are becoming a managed platform — OpenAI's API — but also part of everyday workflow — Kilo on your phone, Lavingia's skills in your editor. The next question, naturally, is how agents plug into real systems. And that's where today gets spicy.

Milo: Okay, so the big theme in the next group: agents are moving from chat windows into systems that can actually touch your infrastructure. And the poster child is Buddy MCP. It gives AI agents safe access to CI pipelines, logs, deployments, sandboxes, and domains. We're talking ninety-plus tools.

Mia: Ninety-plus is a lot. But the part that matters more, to me, is the permission model. You can scope access by workspace and by tool, and you authenticate with OAuth or tokens. So you can say: this agent can read logs in this workspace and nothing else.

Milo: Exactly — the guardrails are the actual product here. An agent with full access to your deployment pipeline is a liability. An agent with scoped, revocable access is a teammate. Buddy is clearly betting on the second version.

Mia: Then there's is.team, which takes a completely different angle on the same idea. Instead of giving agents access to infrastructure, it puts them on the org chart. It's an infinite-canvas project management tool where AI agents join the kanban board as actual teammates, through MCP.

Milo: It also has voice rooms and can turn meetings into tasks. Pricing is sixteen dollars a month for a fixed fifteen people. So the vision is: your board has humans and agents on it, and the agent picks up cards like anyone else.

Mia: Compare the two for a second, because they represent two philosophies. Buddy says: agents need deep, carefully-scoped access to real systems. is.team says: agents need a place in the workflow, a visible identity on the board. Both are answers to "how do agents become part of the team," but from very different directions.

Milo: Sierra is a third direction — customer-facing. They run multimodal support agents that can switch between voice, text, and vision within a single conversation, automatically, depending on the situation. So a customer starts typing, then talks, then shows a photo of a broken product — and it's all one continuous conversation.

Mia: And the piece that's clever for enterprises: MCP UI integration means if you build custom interactive components for one channel, you can reuse them across channels. So you're not rebuilding your UI for voice versus chat versus whatever comes next.

Milo: Then there's Axari, which is very deliberate about trust. They build an "AI Twin" for security practitioners. It lives in Slack or Teams and proactively pushes security tasks forward across tools — following up, drafting reports. But the access model is progressive — they call it "earned access" — and there's human approval in the loop.

Mia: And that's a notable contrast with Buddy. Buddy scopes permissions up front with OAuth and tokens. Axari starts the agent with almost nothing and grants access as it demonstrates what it's doing, with a human signing off. Two different answers to the same question: how much rope do you give an agent on day one?

Milo: And here's a wildcard that closes this group: Payflip. They're building a non-custodial dollar stablecoin wallet aimed at agent payments. Agents can send and receive using an email address, an @handle, a phone number, or a QR code.

Mia: The mechanics matter here. The recipient chooses how they actually get paid — so the payer's agent doesn't need to know the recipient's rail of choice. And if money is sent and never claimed, it automatically returns after a TTL expires. So no orphaned payments sitting in limbo.

Milo: Which is exactly what you'd need if agents start transacting on each other's behalf — you need reversibility and simple addressing, not raw wallet addresses. Okay, that group was heavy on access and permissions. Next group flips the interface: instead of agents typing, things start talking.

Mia: Voice first. Voiskey is an AI voice dictation tool, and the differentiator is what they call "expression intelligence" — the tone adapts based on which app you're dictating into and who's going to read it. So a message to a colleague doesn't come out sounding like a formal document.

Milo: And two details that address the biggest fear with dictation tools: it keeps your personal vocabulary — your words, your phrases — and it remembers your corrections. So when you fix a transcription, that sticks. It supports over a hundred languages plus translation, and it's free to start, across multiple platforms.

Mia: The open question, honestly, is how well that tone adaptation holds up in real use. Reading context — "this is Slack, this is casual" — is one thing. Getting it consistently right is another. That's the claim we'd want to see tested.

Milo: From voice input to video output — Narrative is an AI video editor. You upload your footage, then you describe what you want in a chat, and you iterate by talking. It supports matching the style of a reference video, and it can do motion and sound effects. And the rendering and storage — the heavy lifting — is handled by their team, not your machine.

Mia: That last part is the real product decision. Video editing has always been gated by hardware and by the skill of operating a timeline. Narrative is saying: skip the timeline, describe the outcome, and we absorb the compute. Again — a claim until we see the output quality, but the shape of the bet is clear.

Milo: And then a small one that's charming: Fifi. It's an iOS app built on iOS 26's AlarmKit, and it makes alarms that come in like phone calls. Ten different characters answer, and they read you the weather, the news, or your own voice memos.

Mia: Pricing is a yearly subscription, thirty-four ninety-nine. It's a small product but it's a nice illustration of the same theme — the interface is conversation. Your alarm isn't a tone anymore, it's a character talking to you.

Milo: Okay, from talking agents to a very different corner: a wave of cheap, privacy-first, local-processing Mac tools. There's a lot here, so let's pick out the ones with the clearest problems.

Mia: Start with Tangerine, because its pitch is almost aggressively simple. It's an offline file converter for Mac. You hold Shift and drag files onto it — converted. Option gives you advanced options. Everything happens locally, nothing goes to a server. And the bundle is genuinely large: 188 kinds of conversion plus 25 tools. Fifteen dollars, one-time purchase, no subscription.

Milo: The problem it's solving is real — file conversion is one of those things people patch together with random websites, which means uploading your documents to strangers. Local processing kills both the friction and the privacy issue in one move.

Mia: Similar DNA in PeekPaste — a clipboard manager for Mac, entirely local, no cloud. It slides out from the edge of the screen when your pointer touches it, and here's the nice bit: it does OCR on screenshots, so you can search for text that was inside an image you copied. Nine ninety-nine, one-time.

Milo: And then the weirdly delightful one: Mac Duo. When you close your MacBook lid, the screen — right at the hinge — turns into a frosted glass effect, driven in real time by the hinge angle sensor. It's two ninety-nine, one-time. And note the honest limitation: it requires screen recording permission, which is how it reads the hinge angle and renders the effect. That's a real permission you're granting for a purely aesthetic feature — worth knowing before you buy.

Mia: On the dashboard side, there's FATHER — a Mac app for teams on Vercel. It aggregates traffic, deployments, uptime, PageSpeed scores, plus Search Console and Bing data, and it reminds you about SSL certificates and domain expirations. Seven ninety-nine, one-time, and tokens are stored locally, not on their servers.

Milo: What's it change versus existing options? Those metrics live in half a dozen tabs today — Vercel, PageSpeed, Search Console, your registrar. FATHER's bet is that a single local dashboard beats six browser tabs, and that "buy once, runs locally" beats another SaaS subscription.

Mia: DynamicLake 2.0 is in the same local-Mac family but with an ecosystem play. It's the dynamic-island-style app for Mac — it puts Live Activities in the notch: music, notifications, drag-and-drop, calls, timers. Version 2.0 adds a third-party plugin system and a plugin marketplace, plus a Playground for building them.

Milo: That's the interesting strategic move — going from a feature to a platform. If other developers build plugins for your notch, the app's value compounds in a way a single-purpose utility never does.

Mia: Two more to round out this group. Thoughts for Mac is a free menu-bar scratchpad — text, images, voice. And for the AI features — transcription, OCR, translation, rewriting — you plug in your own API key, OpenAI, Claude, or Gemini. So your notes don't route through the app maker's backend; you're using your own account.

Milo: That "bring your own key" model is becoming a recognizable pattern, and it's a nice middle ground: AI power without giving up data custody.

Mia: And the one server-side tool in this group: Mailyte. It's an open-source email platform — AGPL-3.0 licensed — that unifies your team inbox, transactional email via API, and marketing campaigns, all on your own domain. It has built-in SPF, DKIM, and DMARC checks, and it's free for up to ten mailboxes.

Milo: The problem it's naming is real: teams typically run one service for the shared inbox, another for transactional email, a third for newsletters — and deliverability is nobody's job. Mailyte's answer is one self-hosted platform with the authentication checks built in. Okay — so that was tools. The last group is about the work itself: how builders actually ship and get paid.

Mia: Let's start with one that rethinks a very specific format: Workshopy.io. You write a Markdown file, and it becomes a live workshop. Students join with a six-digit code — no account creation — and the host can see, in real time, where every person is: who's completed a step, who's stuck.

Milo: That visibility is the actual differentiator. In a normal workshop over video call, the host has no idea who's following and who's lost. Here it's on the screen. It also has quizzes, polls, and a post-session report.

Mia: Then tiun, which aims at a very common pain for AI and SaaS builders: stitching together auth, payments, and analytics. Stripe plus Clerk plus some analytics tool — multiple systems that need to stay in sync. tiun bundles authentication, payments including merchant-of-record, customer data, and analytics into one backend you install with a single command.

Milo: Now, the honest open question — and it's a big one — is whether a one-stop backend can really replace the Stripe-and-Clerk stack. Those tools are mature and battle-tested; a unified upstart has to prove it handles edge cases like failed payments, disputes, tax. The convenience is real; the track record isn't yet.

Mia: From infrastructure to thinking tools — siift takes the mess of an AI chat session and turns it into a visual business map. It connects strategy, evidence, and decisions, based on your real business context, to help you validate assumptions, spot risks, and figure out the next step.

Milo: The framing is: AI chats generate a lot of noise, and the value isn't in the transcript, it's in the structure you extract from it. siift is betting on the structure.

Mia: Idlen monetizes something nobody has monetized before: the time developers spend waiting for AI. It's a plugin for VS Code, Cursor, and Chrome that turns that idle time into ad space. Developers get seventy percent of the revenue.

Milo: And the trust question is handled head-on in their pitch: they promise not to read your prompts, and the dependency analysis happens locally. Because let's be honest — a tool that watches your coding session and shows ads is only viable if the privacy story is airtight. Those promises are claims, but at least they're the right claims to make.

Mia: Proofrr solves the feedback problem for creative work. Review today is scattered — comments in email, annotations in PDFs, threads in chat. Mia: Grimo AI is on iOS, and it's about capture speed. You say one sentence and it becomes tasks, calendar events, and notes, automatically categorized and scheduled. There's a hands-free voice mode and everything stays in a single chat thread. Free to start, Premium at four ninety-nine a month.

Milo: And the last one is ambitious in a different dimension entirely: Anthropologic. It's a consumer research platform built on something they call the Human Context Protocol, covering 239 markets and over a hundred languages. The promise: culturally grounded research and trend insights in minutes.

Mia: Which, if it works, compresses what used to take an agency weeks. And note it's the second "Protocol" branding in today's list — Sierra builds on MCP, Anthropologic invents a Human Context Protocol. Everyone wants their layer to be the standard.

Milo: So let's zoom out on that last group. What ties Workshopy, tiun, siift, Idlen, Proofrr, Grimo, and Anthropologic together is that each one collapses a toolchain. Workshops without separate webinar software. Backend without four services. Research without an agency. Feedback without six inboxes.

Mia: And the pattern across the whole episode, honestly: everywhere you look, someone is taking a workflow that used to need five tools and a human coordinator, and making it one product — with either an agent or good old-fashioned local software doing the coordinating.
